About Carico Real Estate Co. Inc.

Marilyn and Ginger Henderson, co-owners of Carico Real Estate Co., Inc., are native Floridians with offices in the Florida Keys and Costa Rica. Marilyn has over 35 years of real estate experience.

In 1974 Ginger entered the real estate profession after graduating from the University of the Americas in Mexico City, Mexico, with a BA degree in International Relations.

In 1981 they co-founded Carico Real Estate Co., Inc in the Florida Keys. Since that time they have helped hundreds to relocate, find or sell homes and to acquire commercial or development properties both in Costa Rica and the Keys.

We have made Costa Rica the "Home Of Our Heart" for the past twenty-five years.

As guests of this country, then landowners, and finally as owners of Costa Rica's premier real estate office, we have seen Costa Rica gradually being discovered by the rest of the world.

We would like to share our special knowledge and appreciation of this unique country, with visitors who feel as we do...that Costa Rica is a wonderful place to visit and to live.

The investment climate in Costa Rica is very positive. The economy is strong and growing. There are virtually no restrictions governing foreign investment and the nation's infrastructure is well developed. Most importantly, the political environment is very stable.  In 1989, Costa Rica celebrated its 100th year of democratic rule.

Real estate taxes and the overall cost of living are very low by US standards.  Year after year, costa rica rates in the top 10 Best Retirement Counties in the world.

National Geographic calls it the country with the most ideal climate in the world.

Marilyn visited Costa Rica for the first time in 1966 while participating in the Good Will Tour of the Business and Professional Womens Club of Marathon, Florida.  She fell in love with the country and its people and the following year she, along with her husband Earl and four children packed up the family travel trailer and drove from Marathon, Florida to Costa Rica.  After a few subsiquent visits the family finca in Los Angeles de Heredia was purchased and became the vacation retreat until 1982 when Marilyn and Earl moved to Costa Rica full time. 
She and her daughter, Ginger, opened Carico Real Estate of Costa Rica in 1982 as a branch of their Florida Keys real estate brokerage firm. 
Marilyn is a member of the Costa Rica Board of Realtors, is a graduate of the Florida Realtors Institute and a member of the National Association of Realtors U.S.A.

Ginger has been a licensed Florida Realtor since 1974 after graduating from the University of the Americas in Mexico City in with BA in International Relations. She  owns and operates American Caribbean Real Estate Co. in the Florida Keys and is the exclusive affiliate of Christies Great Estates in the region.   She is also a partner with her mother Marilyn in Carico Real Estate of Costa Rica. She divides her time between the Florida Keys and Costa Rica.

Phil arrived to Costa Rica in January, 2003 with aspirations to become bilingual in a year. Being that Spanish is a more daunting task than previously expected, year two became the year of exploration of both country and self.

Working in Real Estate became a chosen profession after helping with a home remodel project, exploring land opportunities, and working with a neighbor who owned an agency. Phil has been an independent agent since 2006 and specializes in Heredia properties as well as properties along the Central Pacific in the Jaco region. He has been assisting Carico Henderson throughout the years and is good listener.  He hears his client’s needs and keeps them well informed throughout the buying and selling process.
